Submit a poem, essay, short-story, or art of any medium responding to our prompt: For 100 years, Camp Fire Minnesota has helped guide young people on their journey to self-discovery. What did you discover about yourself during your time at Camp Fire?

Submissions open July 1 through September 6, 2024. The winner will be notified October 15, 2024.

*Limit to one entry per individual. Open to youth residing in Minnesota connected to Camp Fire Minnesota programs.

Contest Rules

  • The contest is open to youth ages 5-18.
  • Each entry must be an original essay or art creation that is solely created by a young person.
  • One written and/or one art submission per individual. If art is submitted it must include text submission explaining art piece. Essay should not exceed 300-word count.
  • The entry must be received by September 6, 2024.
  • This contest is open to youth residing in Minnesota connected to Camp Fire Minnesota programs.

Awards

Up to three honorable mentions will receive:

  • $50 digital Visa gift card
  • Online publication of entry

Top prize (one individual) will receive:

Rep. Lucy Rehm represents District 48B, which encompasses the cities of Chanhassen and the eastern portion of Chaska. She lives in Chanhassen with her husband Phil, where they raised their three children, one of whom attended Camp Fire! She enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family.

My name is Sam and I love being outdoors. I run cross country and am on the robotics team chicken bot pie.

I have been going to camp fire as a camper for many years now and am a junior counselor this year!

Paget and her husband live in Excelsior with their two dogs and cat. She currently volunteers on Camp Fire’s 100-Year committee, which has planned many fun events for 2024. She loves taking the dogs on walks, identifying species of wildlife on their pond, and volunteering her time with the Chanhassen Environmental Commission.
