Other popular planned giving opportunities

Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) & IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you are age 70½ or older, the IRS requires you to take RMDs each year from your tax-deferred retirement accounts. To reduce the impact of this taxable income, many donors choose to make a qualified charitable donation (QCD) from their IRA to their favorite charities. Donors may distribute up to $100,000 without paying income tax, so long as the check is made out directly to the charitable organization.

Gifts that Provide Lifetime Income

Choose to receive lifetime income while supporting Camp Fire Minnesota. A Charitable Gift Annuity or Charitable Remainder Trust provides you with a fixed income for the rest of your life.

"Bunching" to maximize itemize deduction

Given the The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, many donors and tax advisors have determined it’s more effective to “bunch” their donations. You would give the same amount of dollars that you would over a two-year period, but you “bunch” them into one year to achieve the itemized deduction requirement ($12,000/individual).
