Specialty Day Camps
Specialty Day Camps are designed to encourage campers (ages 5-14) to discover, grow and share their sparks (their unique passions)! Campers will have dedicated time each day to enjoy their specialty camp activities in addition to the traditional Tanadoona Day Camp activities. Learn about each specialty offering below and view available spots through our online registration.
Add Day Camp Extras (Lunch, Before/After Care, and Thursday Overnight) and Camp Store Credit during online registration or by contacting Camp Fire Minnesota after registration.
Weekly themes create a fun, creative, and silly atmosphere showing up in all-camp games and activities.
Campers are encouraged to dress-up on Wednesdays for the weekly theme – have fun!

PREMIUM SPECIALTY CAMPS
Take aim! Whether you are new to archery or on your way to becoming a master archer, our trained archery instructor will meet you where you’re at and help you get to the next level. Campers will learn proper shooting technique and care for equipment as they play fun games during target practice.
Is your camper always experimenting and curious about how things work? Be one of our mad scientists conducting wacky experiments. Bring your lab coat and curiosity to camp and be ready to cause a reaction!
Explore the natural beauty of Lake Minnewashta waterfront. This week, campers will swim, canoe, kayak, fish, and learn about the lake’s ecosystem and wildlife. You may even get to paddle to the Lake Minnewashta Regional Park! Extra time will be spent at the waterfront each day to get maximum lake time.
Outdoor Living Skills
Do you have what it takes to survive outdoors? After this week, you will know the basics! Campers will learn outdoor skills such as fire building, outdoor cooking styles, navigation, setting up a tent, and other fun skills that will help prepare you for a Tanadoona Northwoods Adventure Canoe Trip.
Sky High Adventure
The sky is the limit! This is the week to push yourself during extra time on the high ropes adventure courses! Campers will learn climbing commands and safety from certified staff. Challenge yourself and cheer others on as we scale the rock wall, inch along the high ropes, fly on the giant swing, and tackle the team-building and agility challenge courses!
What is nature? During this week, campers will explore different natural facets of camp from pond study in the marsh, insect lifecycles in the woods, to animal species by the lake, and more. Ignite your love of the outdoors!
Be part of a team and have fun competing in your favorite sports. We’ll play games such as flag football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and kickball, plus learn other games from around the world! This week is filled with teamwork and practicing good sportsmanship.
Shelters, Forts and Hideouts
Take time each day to design and construct a secret hideout, shelter, or fort using the most basic and interesting of nature’s supplies in the Tanadoona Big Woods! A practical skill for any outdoor adventurer and loads of fun for pretend adventures, too.
Make a difference and leave your mark at Tanadoona! This week you will learn about stewardship and ways you can lend a hand in your community. As a team, your group will plan and complete projects that you feel are important to camp life at Tanadoona, such as creating a new activity area or painting a camp mural. This is your chance to make a lasting impact at Tanadoona!
